Campfires and goodbyes

Alright, one month of Malawi has past, and i must admit, i love it here. I am used to the quietness and feel such an inner calm (pff deep words for the second sentence of a blog..).

The past two weeks went by very fast, which is a good thing i think. Mark (a boy who was a volunteer with Be More for a few months and now came back for a project he organized himself) joined the Mawa gang. Although it was nice and cosy with us four, you do notice when there is an extra person, and it makes a difference, in a good way. We spent more time together in the evenings, and Erik, Mark and me normally closed the day with a few cigarettes (in Eriks case a cigar) outside, reflecting on the day and sharing thoughts. It´s nice to hear how they experience Malawi. Two evenings we ´even´ had a campfire night with marshmallows (!) and beer (the Malawian kuche kuche) which was awesome.

Eartquake in Zomba!

Hello Hello everybody!

Here I am, in Malawi for two weeks already. In every aspect different from Uganda, which is exciting on one hand but on the other hand I needed some time to get used to it as well.

I stay in a very fairytale- like house in the middle of Songolo village with a view of Mount Zomba. The children that play around our house all day long and the lack of power gives it a very peaceful and tranquil touch. This house will be occupied with Anne, Erik, Hendrik and me this month. For me and Erik it is the first time in Malawi and for Hendrik and Anne the 4th month in Malawi.

Half way my Africa experience

Hello to you all again!

Sorry for not updating my blog that often, i realize i am horrible at motivating myself to sit down and write down all my experiences here. So instead of writing down every single thing i did the past few weeks, i will just write some things down that i would like to share with you guys, things that i noticed, thought nd experience :)

> Yesterday was my tenth week of being in Africa, 10 more weeks to go

> The past two weeks, me and Judith travelled around Tanzania. We visited Mwanza, Dar es Salaam, Morogoro, Moshi, Arushia and Bukoba.

VERY SHORT UPDATE

Hello to you!

Still loving it here, next week the last week on the project, noooo i dont want to leave this place! Got to know a lot of locals that are really nice, all breakdancers so cool to go out with them, and starting to feel more home here every day.

Last week was great here in Masaka town. We organized a day for the streetchildren in which we played dutch games, invited a theatercrew to perform about living on the street and spent the afternoon swimming in the swimming pool. It was one of the best days here so far, they were so happy and excited the whole day which made the day even more special.

This weekend went out a lot in the local club which was very nice, a lot of dancing and laughing with other volunteers and the africans ove here! During the day we mostly chilled at the pool and enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Hope you are all good! xxxx hanna

Fishing town, Lake Bunyonyi, New volunteers and driving the Boda Boda!

Hello to everybody again!

More than two weeks have passed and a lot has happened! I won´t go on about what I did per day, instead I will talk about the highlights in the last few weeks and the things that stood out for me.

Building houses and shaking hips like an africana!

Oli otya!

So.. my second week has past, and I feel like now the adventure is finally starting! Getting more used to Uganda and loving it!

One week

Here it is.. the first entry I am writing from Masaka, Uganda! Today I am exactly here for a week, last week I was sitting in the plane getting totally nervous about what was about to happen and asking myself why the hell I was doing this again. But now I can happily say that it is AMAZING here and that after only have been here for one week, I have learned so much already about the Ugandan culture.
Saturday I stayed in a backpackers in Entebbe with the other volunteers and had a bedroom for myself, which was nice to settle in.

Almost!

Hello Everybody :D

Welcome to my Blog which I will use to update my awesome Africa stories! I will be writing is english as I think this is the language all of you understand :) I honestly can´t say how much time I will have to write down all my experiences and thoughts I will have but I will do my best to let you guys know how and what I am doing in Uganda and Malawi!

It´s kind of scary how close it´s coming, in three days I will be sitting on the plane to Entebbe (Uganda) already! I really hope I will be sitting next to a local Ugandan who can get me alll excited for Africa, which of course I am, but it still seems so far away somehow. I can´t wait to finally be there though, and to really discover the different culture and hopefully also become part of it with time.
